Take a Stitch Tuesday #140 Threaded Cable Chain

This is stich no. 140 of Sharon's Tast stitches.
It is the last stitch for this year 2014.
She might go on in 2015 - if people are interested

I made four rows with different threads -
Among them a very thick fil a broder (Metz no. 3) -
then perle 8 and 5 and a metallic thread to pull through -
but its not my favorite - the thread is stiff and not easy to handle.

Tast 134 - Fern Stitch

Wonderful - Tuesday arrives and with all regularity a new

stitch of Sharon: It is the fern stitch - no. 134

First row in green - straight and counted

In the second row I tried a movement and overstitched

it with orange.

Fern stitch in three colors
This is stitched on my band sampler. But from now on I will also

follow Mary Corbets advice and try out all my stitches

on a piece of fabric - 25 x 25 cm - the Tast stitches I get from

Sharon or others which I find on blogs.

Mary Corbet has fantastic stitches, too.

It will be a great mixture of colors - I love colors.

Fern stitch and a bit of the triple chain

I can use this piece of free embroidered fabric as a bookcover -

a pillow case - or fit it into a wall-hanging, or or or ... store it

...in one of my drawers!

Below: A sight of the Karlsruhe castle

They did a lot of painting and roof repairing

those last months. And guilding of the balconies.

It is looking beautiful and

it holds a museum.

Woven trellis stitch

119 Woven trellis stitch
Do you know Tast of Sharon Boggon? click This is the new stitch.

For the first time I used Anne Lange's handdyed variegated mulberry thread
It is soft and wonderful and expensive. The pink perle is just cotton -
I used it for "stretching" and finally used up the rest with a single woven trellis stitch

Eye-Tree --- finished

Totally crazy, you will say. But I am somehow inspired

by the tree in our French garden - he is looking with a

very serious nearly sad eye over our doings.

Here he is again.

Serious tree

So here another tree with eyes: Compared with the real tree this one is rather

strict - severe - ridgid ..... about the growth beneath his feet.

And I wanted to stitch something funny.

The postcard was done in Sharon's class on Sumptuous Surface Embroidery.

Stitched postcard

Here it is - damp stretched - (Hi Karen, thanks for this great hint)

There are some backstitches on top, made of wonderful silk from
Stef Francis, UK. I will take them off - no relevance - although a pity.

I show you still the eucalpytus flower in detail

a hint of Shirley (thanks to Towoomba)

The class is going on.

What's new?

Nothing, this is an old post which you probably saw already.

I had to remake it because some photos didn't show.

So I had to trick out the computer (because I don't know it better)

What's new? - Gibt's was Neues?

I am taking part in SharonB's class - Sumptuous Surface Embroidery -
We don't use any threads in the first week - but make a sketch and design
of what we want to fill with stitches. Emphasis is laid on the negative space
which in my sketch will be the leaves of an Eukalyptus tree which is our
shade on the terrace of our summer vacation at the Adriatic Sea.

A first try to create a design - I want it the other way round.b
Übertragung vom Transparent-Papier - aber falsch herum

That's the right one.

I took this photo 4 years ago - and changed it to black and white
and coloured it. There are so many leaves and branches which I will have to ignore.
So will ich es haben - Auf dem Originalfoto ist natürlich ein Gewirr von Blättern und
Ästen - aber das werde ich nicht übernehmen können.

And what I will be making during our summer vacation (under the Eukalyptus tree):
Vorbereitung für meine Ferienarbeit unter dem Eukalyptusbaum:

While I am writing this post ....... our April weather in May
is surprising us with a break of the rain and a rainbow.
View from our living room.
Während ich an diesem Post schreibe, überrascht uns der Mai mit Aprilwetter,
einer kurzen Regenpause mit Regenbogen. Der Regen hat uns zweimal erwischt.

Take a Stitch Tuesday 108 Rice stitch and varieties 109 Square Boss

My new stitches

I stitched two rows of the rice stitch (Tast 108)  - the simple version and a variety
The next two rows are called square boss stitches (Tast 109). Instead of the
simple square stitches in the middle I made 4 bullion knots over each cross.

I separated them with French knots - for a nice photo.

Celebrating a jubilee

Tast stitch no. 100 - Beaded Eastern Stitch
I made two wonky lines to make it a bit different. The yellow stitches
are made with perle 8. The red one with perle 5 and two larger
ones in between.
I nearly can't believe - every Tuesday a new stitch for two years.
Sharon of Pintangle.com started this stitch challenge on January 2, 2012
and this is the 100th one. Well, she will go on with it but not come out
with a new stitch every Tuesday anymore.
And it is ok to have breaks now and then. Learn more about Tast here

Portuguese border stitch

Soon I will make - or buy ready-made - the Advent wreath

With the new stitch - the Portuguese border stitch -
I thought of braiding a wreath
and as the season is approaching
an Advent wreath came out of my needle

I used a pretty thick viscose thread which is
rather difficult to handle but the shine to it is wonderful.
To depict the needles I used barred chain stitch
on the inner and outer circle.
And where the stitches were not very even I made drizzle stitches
and tatted rings.
Tatted rings are also on the sides made of 6 stranded mouliné thread

Mary Corbet has just lately put on a tutorial
how to make a six-pointed star and it came in very handy for me.
You find it here: six-pointed star
Thank you Mary!!!

My star is still looking very poor - it was a first try.

Moreover, SharonB - who gives us all those very interesting stitches
- the Portuguese border stitch is the 47th this year -
also pointed it out in her blog pintangle.com
find it here: http://pintangle.com/
There are so many interesting things to see, to read and to do.

TAST2012

Red heart The lovely logo was stitched by Annet of the Netherlands.

I have again signed  in for the next TAST2012 (take a stitch Tuesday) and here is what SharonB of Pin Tangle writes:

"This challenge is not a closed clique where people in 'the know' are aware of it. It is for all so please help spread the word and do it as often as people often miss hearing about it first time around!"

Click on the link below and you can read everything about it.
