Eye-Tree --- finished

Totally crazy, you will say. But I am somehow inspired

by the tree in our French garden - he is looking with a

very serious nearly sad eye over our doings.

Here he is again.

So here another tree with eyes: Compared with the real tree this one is rather

strict - severe - ridgid ..... about the growth beneath his feet.

And I wanted to stitch something funny.

The postcard was done in Sharon's class on Sumptuous Surface Embroidery.

I risk to bore you

I wanted to make a border with pulled stitches. I made them for the first time and saw that

it is not at all difficult. My next piece will have more - I am planning.....

It is looking like that - transfer paper on my "studio work horse" and a few colour ways

The green one will be my choice.

And now the surprise -

 

 

Our friendly neighbour came to bring us strawberries,

huges ones, the farmer in our village can't sell them, they are too large,

neverthelelss they taste well - I froze them for jam at a later time.

Now isn't that wonderful!

 

 

Stitched postcard

Here it is - damp stretched - (Hi Karen, thanks for this great hint)

There are some backstitches on top, made of wonderful silk from

Stef Francis, UK. I will take them off - no relevance - although a pity.

What's new?

Nothing, this is an old post which you probably saw already.

I had to remake it because some photos didn't show.

So I had to trick out the computer (because I don't know it better)

What's new? - Gibt's was Neues?

I am taking part in SharonB's class - Sumptuous Surface Embroidery -
We don't use any threads in the first week - but make a sketch and design
of what we want to fill with stitches. Emphasis is laid on the negative space
which in my sketch will be the leaves of an Eukalyptus tree which is our
shade on the terrace of our summer vacation at the Adriatic Sea.

Ich musste das Wort sumptuous x-mal nachschauen, bis ich mir schliesslich merken konnte, dass es "üppig" heisst.

That's the right one.

I took this photo 4 years ago - and changed it to black and white

and coloured it. There are so many leaves and branches which I will have to ignore.

So will ich es haben - Auf dem Originalfoto ist natürlich ein Gewirr von Blättern und

Ästen - aber das werde ich nicht übernehmen können.

is surprising us with a break of the rain and a rainbow.
