A diary - it is March 2022

It is time again for the bear leek (Allium ursinum) - Bärlauch, wich is a perfect herb for salads, soups and more. It is growing in our region as early as this -  in March.

My inspiration for little charming things made of fabric is Ann Wood. These are mushrooms - quite a crafting and it takes some time. You need patience, cardboard, different fabrics, filling material, copper wire for the stems, needle and thread.

My knitting experiment

The yarn is beautiful, natural, linen, silk and cotton. I was however not satisfied with the pattern, I changed my mind, three times, undid, knitted backwards. Started new.

This time I will pull through with 134 stitches on the round needle for the back of the summer vest, instead of nearly 300 front and back together - when I  could never see the end of one row.

The Chinese bowl is perfect for the yarn ball.

TextileArt.org offered a free workshop - the Stitch Camp! We needed  fabric, three different fabric colors, many different devices to spread the color - paint brushes, bank cards, I used also a fork. The painted „art“-work is being cut into small rectangles, sewn together and embellished with hand stitches.

Below my first try - the colors are quite ok, but the fabric! Actually very fine - but impossible to stitch through with an embroidery needle which would have been essential for this piece. So
I decided to do machine embroidery.  Open the photo and you will see the lines.
I love to do free machine stitching - it is effective and fast. I use Madeira viscose threads, made for machine sewing. They have a lovely sheen.

So much for today. Corona is not over - we still take care with masks and distance. Occasional  meetings with friends and FaceTime with family and children who are living abroad.

Green - so much green and felted slippers

It is green where we are biking

I am looking up from the ground to the top

In front of the house - Azalea - in blossom for only a short time

- - - - - - - - - -

Knitted slippers - to compare the size I placed socks
German size 42 near the monster slippers

Out of the washing machine

and then shaped - next step - cutting out the soles

During the Corona lock-down ebay ordering is the solution
I will cut the soles and make holes around the rim
and sew them on by hand

Mending and remembering

Old sweater - in fact not SO very old but haunted by moths -
since I love to repair all things because it is meditative
I unravelled the lower part where the wholes were and
knitted downwards
About the age: It might be 25 years - good wool
 - seldom worn - machine knitted by a friend.

Color is something like greenish blue - more the first pic
I knitted about 5 cm from top to bottom - I think it is pretty
good and wearable.

From time to time I am looking at my fake chocolates

and stumpwork - 4 square cm
the first one depicts Clara Schumann (1829-1896),
Clara Schumann was the pianist wife of Robert

The rest ist fantasy

It is mid-january - no snow about 8°C during the day

The scarf

It is finished the scarf which I began first with another pattern
but saw that I won‘t be able to finish it to be recognized
as a scarf

and now this is Frau Mayer wearing it - a model once
published in the magazine Brigitte, long long ago
when DH still made such things - today his objects are
larger, house renovation etc.

the sarf is for me

an intricate pattern - I was not able to form a scarf with

unravelling

washing and drying

and looking for another pattern
(see at the bottom of the page)

no fast knitting but I had the time during holidays
and summer heat when quiet sitting was the best

Photo below:

It is the same wool under electric light - I knitted a cord
to make the neck a bit more attractive -

knitting with two needles and 5 stitches - no turning
just pushing the knitted stitches to the beginnning and
go again from right to left

the excess length ended in a knitted ball - I could make a snake‘s
head of it -

Frau Mayer and the scarf
the pattern

3 Sept 2019

Scarf not finished

This intricate feather pattern -
well it is looking a bit funny - like a collar around the neck
So I will add a knitted little sausage - fixed by sewing or
crocheted - no decision yet made -
cold days are still far

Crochet pattern - ananas? - for a better image I will have to
block it.

Stitching in March

TAST 2019 - week 11 - Pistil stitch (I did this one already in 2012)
related to the French knot below

French knot in the shape of a sand dollar (also from TAST 2019)

This is going to be a wash cloth - round with points

made of „resties“ expression I learned from a cyber friend - there is a great
internet community for stitching, knitting, crocheting, sewing and much more

Here is the link - Diane F. shared it with me

Part of a project bag to be seen

10 Feb 2018

In January and February

It is sold  - our farmhouse. We had it nearly 23 years and have
now many lovely memories

While waiting at the notary‘s office - swinging with
our feet

This is hanging above our heads

At home we are in a funny mood (some days later)
It is carnaval at our gymnastics. We did our exercises -
but afterwards - sparkling wine and not little

But what I like most is to enjoy myself in my
studio - this is a cosmetic bag - not my idea
If you are interested here is the link:

With the pattern to download
It is made in a few hours - but oh my dear - it
is a lot of fiddling nevertheless

I might still doing some handstitching on it to flatten
the seams.
But then in the weeks before - I knitted socks .... enough....
for grandsons LL and YL

Below are YL‘s feet - they, the socks, fit well

The second pair i for LL who is coming sometimes on
Sundays - for lunch with us - and to play football - he grew
up in the United States and is studying now in our town
Karlsruhe

The end!
