Wrapping with floss

It is a "necklace" - a ring around the neck.

At our last wonderful Friday meeting

Edith came up with this idea from the internet.

Floss is wrapped around a thicker cord.

The endings are a bit fuzzy to make

I am closing it with a button which

DH calls a lamp.

We finally got some fantastic rain - many hours
and pouring down like cats and dogs.

It is our terrace - under water.

Mountains opposite can hardly be seen.

Today one day later it is sunny again.

Necklace

Do you know that you can make beads of fabric - fabric beads

You cut strips of about 3 cm width and 10 - 12 cm length

and a narrow strip of Vliesofix

and stick it lengthwise to the fabric strip,

fold the strip into half from both long sides to the middle. Carefully

iron it - maybe under baking paper,

and start to roll it into a bead - then make stitches to fasten the roll.

These can be embroidery stitches or invisible stitches.

Example of beads

I embellished my beads with embroidery stitches - and sewed little

beads on, as well. You could also embellish the fabric beads with

narrow braids

Embellished fabric beads

Beads not needed at the moment

You can also sew narrow braids around.

I mixed my embellished fabric beads with glass beads.

I chose a magnetic closure - the silvery bead.

The idea comes from the book of EVA MARIA MAIER.

There are fantastic, romantic and poetic ideas in her book

POESIE DER KLEINEN DINGE (the book is written in German).

If you are interested please google it.

It can be bought at Amazon. The book

Fabric beads

I am using the buttonholed double chain stitch - a Tast stitch - (Tast stands for Take a Stitch Tuesday)
for embellishment of fabric beads - which will once be mounted into a necklace.

Feather stitch and..... I forgot the name of the one on the right.

We have been invited to this dish "Gregada" (it could be an Italian name for a fish dish
- Italy is on the other side of the Adriatic sea just 200 km away.

We spent a lovely evening
with a family of musicians - everything violins

but also red wine - we were four 4 people and represented three nations, three of them
changed their nationality so four nationalities were involved. Difficult? Such is Europe.

This is also Croatia - it is the feast of Corpus Christi
Beautiful dog - his spine is a wonderful line finding continuation in her tail - she is a lady

Necklace

Strips of linen - folded from both sides to the middle
and rolled up firmly -
a commercial braid - square beads,
a collection of small beads and seed beads.

a pin to keep it rollled up

I used the beads of an old necklace which I didn't like anymore.
Suddenly I had a nice boxful of beads and a good choice.

I tried everything - undid - joined again

used my square beads

and made a necklace.

I had the fun of stitching the toggles.

Tutankhamon

I am looking at the Geneva lake - it could not be seen but the Alps behind it showed better than here on the photo.

We spent a weekend with our son and family in Geneva and were invited to visit the exquisit exhibition of Tutankhamon - about the excavation of his tomb and treasures in 1922 - in more than a thousand perfectly crafted replicas. We were told that Egyptian crafters created those artful objects as replicas

The mask of Tutankhamon

The mask was lying over the head of the Pharaon when Howard Carter discovered the tomb

in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt in 1922

A wonderful necklace

The last but one shrine

The last but one sarkophagus was made of plaster and covered with a guild layer

Tutankhamon was buried in here.

The prospectus

I opened up the brochure so on the left side you can see the last shrine from above.

In the middle of the photo can be seen many grave furnishings - as found - untouched since 3300 years.

Many of them have been savely stored in shrines

The foot part of his bed

Two lions were watching his sleep at his feet

Goddesses in front of a shrine

The throne

His throne in pure gold but here a replica

The chariots

A chariot - his way to travel - (oh, I suppose so)

More seats

I liked this statue very much - (about 8" - 9" large)

I you like to see more just copy the link. The same exhibition will take place in Nuernberg in Germany.

Take a deep breath -

This is our culture:

Cheese as much as you can think of

Many kinds of onions

And it was turkey-time also in Switzerland.

We are just starting to enjoy our meal - from top DIL - me - grandson - son

And now we are again renovating in France - "we" - I should better tell the truth "he", the one who is missing on the photo.

So much for today
