Biking in spring

Biking in our neighborhood - we made 22 km

but also up and down-hill

A small castle - Obergrombach -

At home it looks like that now

view out of the living room into our garden with the cherrie tree
and our neighbor‘s house

Spring

Three days it was like that

and now look at the carpet

In Karen Ruane's class I made this - a sample on English broderie
part of my daughters baptism dress - Long ago those times, 50 years

A piece of machine embroidered lace
BEFORE:

and AFTER - I didn't like the coloured buttonhole stitches

so I changed it completely - two fillings by hand

And for the next cold season - hopefully very, very far away
I am knitting a vest/waistcoat

It is so thick - that I don't touch it these days - I have to join the seams - that's all.
For the moment I lost interest because weather is so lovely.

New stitch - Tast 104 and 105 - and news of the magnolia

Buttonholed cable chain

My first row is simply a cable chain

Then the grey one: I put little crowns on the buttonholed cable

And the red one: I buttonholed only every other cable chain and couldn't

but plant a French knot in the free cable chain stitch.

I dyed this yarn myself - I hope it will never get in touch with water!

Now in full bloom

The sky was blue - but not like that. It is the friendliness of my iphone.

me taking photos ... the hedge is being cut by the boss of the house

Magnolia

Written in Germany

Can I make you envious? Over there in Canada (Lanka) or upper East coast of America (Dunja)?

Or maybe somebody in Texas....

I want you to enjoy with me this wonderful tree in front of our little house

Our magnolia on March 17
I am making .....
Our magnolia on March 17

baskets, coiled fabric baskets, again.

I like green more than blue. The blue one has a nice ending with a bead ring.

Bärlauch - bear leek

News from Germany (I will tell you at this place from where I am writing - because we are changing between
Germany and France - in France is the renovation going on in an old house)

Bear leek - Allium ursinum ----- in German: Bärlauch
It is very aromatic and reminds of garlic without the smelly breath afterwards.
I use it like parsley and put it on our salad.
Moreover, I made a dip with fresh cheese and cream cheese,
salt, pepper and mustard and mixed in a lot of chopped leaves.
And I froze the rest. But we will go again to get more.

Bear leek on a grandmother's flowergarden bag - I made it years ago

We collected it in the woods near our village -

how it is growing
we always go by bike

The woods are still leafless - but our temperatures are springlike
------
In front of our house
the magnolia is going to be wonderful.

Buttonhole bar

Tast stitch #65 is called buttonhole bar

I filled the center of the leaf with a couple of buttonhole bars
I wonder what will come next -
it is the intuition of the moment when I am stitching

There are also some knotted buttonhole stitches on the right side

(It would certainly be better to show the whole leaf -
however so much for the moment)

.......
During our cutting of the fir trees and burning
the branches we nevertheless took care of this little cripple tree
not knowing what will come out of it -

We bought the old house last year and the garden was more than wild looking
so this explains our ignorance

and there was a surprise when the days got warmer

and looking closer I was delighted to find this

A magnolia with very large blossoms

Taking care in all this wild cutting and cleaning
was so much worth it.
