I used some woven picot stitch versions

as I took them from Sharon B‘s stitch dictionary

From left to right:

woven picot - two-pronged picot - closed-base needle-woven picot - drizzle stitch

For the apple stem the drizzle stitch is just the thing.


The needle is not nicely drawn - anyway take out the thread from the needle 

and make buttonhole stitches around the needle. Finally you thread the needle

again and pull the thread through all the buttonhole stitches.





Aren‘t the drizzle stitches just like withered apple blossoms?

I am doing some handsewing -

inspired by my patchwork friends last Friday

I printed the templates myself on thicker paper -

not copy paper but 160g/qm - it is a light cardboard

I have a link on the right sidebar. You can choose whatever

size or shape you want - and print it at home for free.

I think it is very generous of "Kunst und Markt" to place

this at patchers' disposal. It can even be translated if you wish.

Knitting backwards ...

Undoing - I think this was the best idea.

I took off 3 1/2 cm of the length of the sole up to now

No problem - I could unrip easily. it was simply too long

even with the estimated shrinkage of one third - 

Patience - I must go on knitting 

The autumn cat is finished - wind blowing and leaves swirling around

All hand sewn - the border as well.

The leaves are made of hand-dyed scraps out of my scrap box - 

I don't throw away anything related to fabric.

What's the name

 

Ist das vielleicht nur Unkraut?

 

As some of you know we bought an old house with a large garden

Now, if somebody could tell me

what these green leaves growing on the ground are -

is it something valuable

should I dig it out and plant it on a special and  better place

 

 

I don't know the name of it.

And I know that there are experts among my readers.....

 

 

and could not find it on internet

Wheatear

My sample for week 17 - the wheatear

I call it wheatear leaves. The backround is a hand-dyed piece of fabric.

If you have a closer look at it you can see that my first stitches (the blue and some of the white stitches) are not made in the proper way. I fixed the chain through the two straight stitches AND at the same time through the chain stitch above.

But then --- Shirley in Australia sent me a scan of the stitch from her Anchor Embroidery book and I went on making proper stitches. I did not undo the "wrong" stitches because I liked them.
