Holidays in the mountains in France

It is here where we are now - me mostly between the weeds
or inside the house chasing spiders and their webs - dusting - vacuuming

And this is my special joy to watch the hydrangeas
I am thankful for this bush - growing without much
care - it is covered with snow in winter .... but now it is in the sun warming up

Not so much about needlework - a little knitting.
The cardigan - which I am doing for the second time because of misfit -
internet is a catastrophy here - so I am sorry not to be able to read blogs.

Snow melting in the Vosges

And the waters are flooding the meadows

We love the views - knowing that it will disappear again.
In the beginning we thought it would reach our house - but
it doesn't.

On the same day

Up in the mountains - at a height of 800 m looks like winter
Snowy meadows down to 600 m.

---------

And on the same afternoon back again - where we a renovating.

The table in the afternoon sun waiting for warm days

crocusses in a corner of the garden

Hazelnut

the afternoon sun from the west

Wavy arrow stitches on a nine-patch which is going

to be a wall hanging

Holidays

No, no. This is not good. I have to redo it.
Well, this is so conventional, but as I started it I am going to

finish it as a small wallhanging
Everything what I did here had to be undone. The
romboid shape did not fit in. It was the time when children
were with us.

And here I assembled not very exact. Seeing the photo I thought:

no, no, please faster and I switched over to machine joining.

This is just a layout and a photo to retrace my decision

which lasted 3 days at least. Picture taken on a very old

table cloth which I wanted to cut apart to make a bag-

I can't - I feel it would be cruel - at least for now.

-----

I finally assembled the necklace - I was long searching for

glass beads - and ordered them. But did not pay attention

and they turned out to be of plastic - but ok. I can live with it.

The glass beads can hardly be seen except of their

interior which looks like a long white bead. And I gifted myself

with a silver shell in the middle.

The crocheted turquois flower is made in a spiral.

--------

Now we are in our holidays - in the mountains and look

what greeted us in our farmhouse: Hydrangeas of an exquisite

colour

the grass - the grass -- so dry because of the heat

And... I am still knotting - just hearts because I want to

learn the change of colours

A mistake! one dark grey thread too little...

Better. And I am proud of my endings.

braided with four double threads or knurled.

The blue light green one shows cat heads ---- looks more like fox

I like the weaved character.

I had to be cruel with this little maple tree - if it is not a maple

tree then please tell me (I found also sycamore or hybrid plane

acerfolia)

One third is growing above the ground - two thirds are deep inside.

If you don't pull them out in time you will never be able to. At

least not by hand. You might use a bagger or something.

I learnt it from our former young neighbour Nicole who was born

in the Vosges.

In the Vosges

Neighbour's cow on our meadow .....

Cows are of a very curious nature - they want to see what's happening.

Our place
where we are walking - in the far you can see the Vosges covered with snow.
cows are still outside. In February this meadow will be inundated.
Enjoy the day!

We want to see the chicken

Short Visit to our summer neighbours and their chicken

We are living over on the blue side and came by car
to visit our summer neighbour and their chicken

he sat at this table - reading - she was buying bread down in town

We were offered a glass of Italian wine

and admired the water basin

which was fed by a few drops only

we wanted to see the chicken - they are travelling with the couple
to spend holidays with them. In a dogs "suitcase" for the plane.
Those chicken are the happy ones on this earth.

and they have this: an old butter machine and want to try it out.

They are growing lemons in the mountains.

And they bring the herbs with them

The sky was exceptionally blue and we all happy together.

Walking

We are making our walks here
Saulxures-sur- Moselotte, 400 m down hill
.... and up-hill - scattered farmhouses

and me on the stone....

Cowboys and girl

Cow chasing - it is photo of July this year -
cows below the house are looking for food outside the fence
and my cowboys and girl are trying to chase this one back -
walking with sticks according to their age.

No more grass - so the intelligent among the cows are looking for more food

Tree house ...

...and up we climb

roof still missing...
A nap was already made up there
They are up - DH did the work with a little help of the boys

Solstice celebration in the Vosges
Two towers burning
4 French classes of pupils with their parents constructed the building for the solstice celebrations
Beautiful construction - and burnt down!
But such is the tradition

Our boys are watching - the girl fell asleep

And grandma has no time for her fabrics and needles
but is practicing cooking and baking for 8 persons
