Disappearing

After the heat -

- a short bike ride in the evening at 8 - but the clouds are threatening

.... himself (lying on the bench) is watching them ....

how they are gathering and where to

over the cornfield

it is not the blue sky - but the clouds.
At home my new quilt is waiting - I hang it up against the window -
I like how the light shines through

My seams are straight - but it happened that I did not always iron them
into the same direction.
In the middle I had to extend a patch - it can also
be seen against the light but no more when the quilt is finished
and lying on Christianes guest bed in France not far
from our "house of renovation".
This old quilt below is already there and both will live in the same room.
The specification was: Same size (156 x 225 cm) and
roughly the same colour. Now the yellow patches in the new one
are looking rather strong but I can reassure you without the light
behind it is much paler.

Starting a new quilt

I counted and did maths and bought fabrics ...

... and sewed together the first strips (16 cm)

I cut them into squares and joined 9 pieces for a nine-patch

and it looks like this.
Then the miracle begins - making two cuts and joining the newly
created squares which results in this......

And then surprise: I need much more of the patterned

fabric than I thought. Well, this means the preliminary stop for

my new quilt - which is a commission - till I return to our basis camp

280 km further north in Germany.

The plain fabric will provide lovely space for machine quilting.

Unpicking - a favorite play - WIP

WIP

When I am enthusiastic about quilting I am making things
which I dislike the next morning and so.....
I was unpicking today in the first wonderful hours after breakfast

You see the left upper square on the way to be cleaned of the unpicked  threads

Already clearer

The threads are gone. I will do the other square, too,
I don't like the disorder

A quilted flower

I will leave this little square as it is

WOYWW 193 - some quilting lines

There isn't really anything new on my desk. But I will show what I am working at when I feel like it.
The quilt I started months ago .
I made already free-hand quilting lines following the design of the batik.
The little red squares are embellished with spirals.

I hope that enthusiasm will come back. It will take me another few hours
I don't really like to make the final jobs at a quilt, the binding and the tunnel.
For the moment I have got a good but annoying excuse:
My sewing machine - the good piece, the gold piece
is under repair. What an unusual  empty space on my desk!

Meanwhile I am noting recipes which I read in a baking book today at the bookstore
where we have our coffee.
I certainly have 10 m of cooking books but the newest recipes are always better :))
