Reverse appliqué

I started a little reverse appliqué quilt as described in the Quilting Arts Magazine, Dec 2010/Jan 2011p. 54.
Four to six layers of  fabric patches are sewn together and parts are being cut out so that the colours from beneath appear. Then every little patch (4" x 4") is cut into four parts and rearranged.
The finished reverse appliqué quilt, 12"x 12"

A detail of one patch, the middle one in the first photo,
cut up it appears scattered of the piece

And I am trying gelatine print and this is the first result.
If you want to know how it is made you can find it here
