Wheatear

My sample for week 17 - the wheatear
I call it wheatear leaves. The backround is a hand-dyed piece of fabric.
If you have a closer look at it you can see that my first stitches (the blue and some of the white stitches) are not made in the proper way. I fixed the chain through the two straight stitches AND at the same time through the chain stitch above.
But then --- Shirley in Australia sent me a scan of the stitch from her Anchor Embroidery book and I went on making proper stitches. I did not undo the "wrong" stitches because I liked them.
Thank you so much Shirley

  4. I like them too. I don't think there's any such thing as 'wrong' when it comes to stitches.

  6. Thanks for the kind comment on my photo art - I read my blog post over and it does sort of imply I'm some sort of genius, which I'm definitely not....better go change that! :) As long as we're talking genius, I continue to enjoy your needlework - we each have our own strengths, don't we? I see it on flickr too, so I'm seeing your work all the time even though I don't often take the time to comment - but I AM here :) Keep stitchin'!

  8. Your first stitches aren't wrong, they are just variations! And I made the same variations when I first stitched it during TAST 2007.
I like your stitches on the pretty fabric.

  10. Oh Anneliese, I always enjoy your stitch samplers. Your background fabrics are always unique and colourful. I very much like your 'incorrect' stitches too..........LOL, and am pleased you left them in. We are so fortunate to have a web of friends who are just a few clicks away with all the help and advice we need. Take care, and sorry I've been quiet, as we have been away on a shopping expedition.
