Colorful quilt

I am a reader of the German journal "Patchwork Professional" and found a quilt in an old issue. Their quilt is called "Crossover". It is worked by Marianne Arens and featured in the 01/2006 issue.

It is sewn exclusively with my own hand-dyed fabrics. I used Procion MX colors.
I quilted it in a different way than shown in my inspiring example. It took me three afternoons. I made two off-center circles and emphasized several blocks, all free machine quilting.

The quilt is not finished yet. I have to make still the border -
anyway - have a look at it. It is pinned to my design wall.

The idea of the quilt lines came actually from the Quilting Arts Magazine.

  1. What a pretty quilt! It looks very complex, but then I saw the pattern. And quilting in just 3 afternoons, now I'm sure I need to learn how to quilt on my sewing machine. By hand it takes forever!

  8. What a wonderful quilt Anneliese, and your free hand quilting is so expertly done. I love all the colours you've used, and am sure this will be a bright and cheery addition to your home. I really must get out my hand dyed fabrics and do something constructive with them. Take care.
